How can I relieve a dog’s separation anxiety?
I have two cocker spaniel/pomeranian dogs that just turned a year old. I live in an apartment. Whenever I need to leave the living room to fold clothes, talk on the phone, take a shower, etc…I put them in their fenced-in play area. Ever since I got the dogs, about 10 months ago, they whine and cry incessantly ever time I leave the room. The only cure is to come out to the living room so that they can see me. Is there anything I can do to alleviate this behavior? As far as I know they do not whine when I leave the apartment. It’s only if I leave the room and I remain inside. Any suggestions??
Pretend you are leaving one time and do your daily morning routine of leaving.Then step out side and wait at the the door for a minute or 2 then come back in comfort you animals and keep repeating the routine a couple of times. as time progresses you dogs will get used to it
